The Avery House

The 1879 home of Franklin and Sara Avery on West Mountain Avenue, kept as a house museum by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation and open for tours Saturdays 11–2 and Sundays 1–4. $6 adults, $5 seniors, $4 children.

Built in 1879 by Franklin Avery and his wife Sara, and now run as a house museum by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation, a nonprofit. Open-house tours run Saturdays 11 to 2 and Sundays 1 to 4, closed July 4 and 5: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for a child with a parent or guardian, no more than ten people on a tour. Private tours for groups of two to sixty can be arranged any day of the week with two weeks’ notice ($75 for the first ten, then $6 an adult and $5 a senior), and last 45 minutes to an hour. The house has stairs throughout and is not ADA compliant. It is also hired for weddings and events.
